CD premiere of superb Elmer Bernstein score for landmark CBS television anthology series sponsored by General Electric, hosted by Ronald Reagan. Series ran from 1953 to 1962. In rare move for 1959, Columbia Records issued complete album of rich, stirring music from selected scores composed and conducted by Bernstein in full stereo sound, including powerful main opening "Emblem", closing "Progress" themes. Complete original album presented in vibrant stereo from original two-track masters vaulted in pristine condition at Sony Music.

Bernstein re-recorded his music for the album, with a much bigger orchestra (around 50 players) than he could utilise on the show itself. Intrada’s 2014 CD release is of that album, including its liner notes, with of course remastered sound. I know what you mean, but I suspect these were re-recorded for the album so they might be enhanced. I especially like track 6 Lavender Waltz - sounds like it came out a modern POIROT episode (or should I say POIROT sounds like it) - pretty and thoughtful with a dark edge.
