The Getaway is an amazing album that far exceeded my expectations, especially after I'm With You, that I could hardly listen to. Josh has found his place in the band with the Getaway, and every song is cohesive, well put together, with intelligent lyrics, all that I love about RHCP. And this album doesn't disappoint at all. I didn't care much for their last album and this is the first one in some time I truly love like some of their older work. Josh on guitar finally has found his groove with the sound and it's not John, it's something else also awesome. I think people who have a set idea that RHCP is one particular sound, based on some of their older songs, might not adjust right away to this album because it is very different.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers' 11th studio album, 2016's The Getaway, is a sophisticated work of dark-hued maturity that finds the long-running California outfit expanding their sound into nuanced, '70s-style orchestral soul and funky psychedelia. The album follows the equally adventurous I'm with You (2011) and once again showcases guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who replaced John Frusciante in 2009. A major difference, however, between I'm with You and The Getaway was the band's choice to work with list Brian Burton (aka Danger Mouse).
But this week, Peterson’s painting of a young girl walking in-step with four animals will grace the cover of the band’s new album, The Getaway. It was never a question, the 37-year-old former probation officer tells Billboard. Say Nickelback’s manager called me up - it would not happen. During a drive home from San Antonio over Memorial Day weekend, Give It Away came on the radio. She was quick to yell above the music and say, ‘Who’s that we’re listening to right now?,’ knowing good and well who it is, Chloé’s mother Chelsea Bradley tells Billboard. She just wanted to remind everyone.
Like every Chili Peppers album, the 13-track The Getaway suffers from bloat. 58. The tame, disco-fried band they’ve become is the only group you’ll hear on the second half of the album, and the instrumental moments that provide redemption wear thin as Kiedis dampens their purpose.
