Complete your Skeletons And The Kings Of All Cities collection. The s Skeletons return with LUCAS, an odd assemblage of tracks, which kicks off with the spare rhythms and phased vocals and growing clatter of "What They Said" or the continual swoon of "Fake Tits" and the haze of "Hay W'Happns?" The long jam of "Don't Worry" contrasts with the gentle strums and strings of "The Shit from the Dogs. But "Like It Or Not" returns to the chaos, even as it shifts to pitchbent guitars halfway through, while "Sickness" drops in some more electronic tones.

Matt Mehlan is the ringleader of the collective Skeletons and the Kings of All Cities, whose sound is as sprawling and all-encompassing as their name. Mehlan has created in LUCAS a fairy tale-like concept album, but even when the narrative becomes oblique there is no mistaking the grandeur and majesty of the sonic world on offer. Sweeping arrangements featuring strings, various percussion, and a host of other noisemaking devices stretch the scope of the Skeletons' music, creating a larger canvas for their idiosyncratic pop vision
Lucas is the second album by Ghostly International artist Skeletons and the first under their new name of Skeletons and the Kings of All Cities. It was released in 2007. A record producer or music producer oversees and manages the sound recording and production of a band or performer's music, which may range from recording one song to recording a lengthy concept album. A producer has many, varying roles during the recording process. They may gather musical ideas.

As a co-founding member of Shinkoyo records, Matt Mehlan retains the label’s core ideals of collaboration, experimentation, and unpredictability with his Skeletons project. Beginning in Oberlin, Ohio as a solo act with help from an eclectic cast of collaborators (classically-trained trombonists, punk rock drummers, a junkyard boy's choir), Skeletons has now settled comfortably into its adult body, having established the full-time band The Girl-Faced Boys (Seve, Johnny, Jason, and Carson) and forming an alliance with Ghostly.
Describing the sources of inspiration for LUCAS, Brooklyn-based Skeletons ringleader Matt Mehlan says, "LUCAS is named after a small town in Kansas, where the Garden of Eden is. I started writing lyrics when we were driving through those huge states, thinking about these little places off the interstate. Sometimes just a house or two next to each other. The self-produced album captures this dynamic wonderfully, sounding as expansive as a continent while leaving room for the tiniest sonic detail . This album - perplexing but highly rewarding - is a testament to Skeletons and the Kings of All Cities' ongoing musical evolution.
In 2007, Skeletons released the album Lucas, also on Ghostly, under the name Skeletons and the Kings of All Cities. The album was recorded in the band's converted Queens warehouse studio and home, The Silent Barn. com/Skeletons (band).
