Breaking dance is a dance movement that combines acrobatics and plastics. The main features of the dance are improvisation, energy and incendiary performance. Break dance belongs to the hip hop culture, it requires from the dancer a good physical training, acting skills and sense of rhythm. As a result, the finished dance demonstrates not only endurance, but also helps to splash out energy, to convey to the audience emotions. It is not surprising that many novice fans of break dance are interested in where the trend appeared and who was its founder.

In the 60’s in the U.S., people began to appear on the streets who were doing unusual moves to the music. Dancers from New York, many believe it was the Bronx, combined a sharp fall with elements of rapid rotation, calling such a process “Good Foot” by the name of the record of the great musician D. Brown. Subsequently, dj Kool Herc called the dance B-boying, from B-boy. DJ was spinning records at street parties and saw in person how vibrant and active unusual dance moves turn out. The dancers were mostly guys who performed movements to broken rhythms, hence the name “breakbeat”. Gradually, the “beat” “separated” and formed a more logical name – break dance.

Up until the early 80s, the direction evolved, there were ardent fans who used only certain movements in the dance. Many, understanding what break dance, thought that the dancer of this direction should be able to do more. One of the first to stand out from the crowd of fans of break was a team called Rock Steady Crew (RSC) – the dancers were able to combine all the styles of hip-hop with each other and give each choreographic element a unique trait. The dancers began to use more acrobatics, and Crazy Legs, one of the members of the group, introduced tricks to the community of fans – energetic windmills and the original back spins.

Ironically, an important contribution to the formation of break-dance made movies about martial arts. Many dancers have tried to apply dance bindings techniques from kung fu, actively moving his arms, legs, sharply raising the body.

Many believe that a special variety of dance introduced by immigrants who settled in New York City in the period 60-70 years of the last century. Some express the view, doing for many years of breakdancing, that this is a dance formed from parts of the choreography of the people of different nationalities. For example, Africans influenced the formation of the beat rhythm, they also introduced the tradition of “dancing in a circle.

From the very founding of the direction became clear that breakdance is not an example of accuracy and logic, it is a personal expression of skill, physical fitness and emotion. Therefore, if the formation of groups of dancers, break fans, each of them imparted its own style and manner of choreography.
